Simone Pace of Blonde Redhead

Simone Pace

Band: Blonde Redhead

Venue: The Independent, San Francisco, CA (July 15th)

You can tell Simone Pace's jazz roots by his traditional-style grip with his left hand. But he's taken those roots and a disciplined approach to create a perfect hybrid of traditional and electronic beats. Nothing he plays sounds recycled; everything coming off his acoustic kit and electronic pad is fresh. He plays live to guitar and keyboard loops and on Blonde Rehead's last recording , 23 he introduced far more complex loops. But ask him how he created this unique approach and he only says,"It all came quite naturally to me. I just make it part of the music."
