Eric Kuhn: Drum And Guitar Simultaneously
By Leslie Hampton Published May 4, 2010
Drummer: Eric Kuhn
Band: Silian Rail
Venue: Meta Music, February 19th
Silian Rail is a dynamic Bay area two-piece band. Drummer Eric Kuhn's repertoire of styles keeps him in high local demand. He plays in numerous California bands and has been a touring drummer for Dim Mak Records group, From Monument to Masses.
Eric also plays guitar, foot synth and glockenspiel. During one of Silian Rail's songs, Eric plays drums and guitar at the same time (pictured below with guitarist Robin). Most people think that means he's just playing drums with his feet and using his arms to play guitar. He ACTUALLY plays both at the same time, strumming the guitar holding a drum kit and then hitting the drums in between strums. You have to see it to believe it!
When not designing web pages, plonking her rare guitars or banging on her eBay drums, Leslie Hampton haunts northern California clubs and house concerts photographing musicians.
[Ed. Note: Each episode of Caught In The Act features a photo of a drummer in action, from the famous like Danny Carey to the not-so-famous local indies. If you're a photographer who'd like to feature your work in Caught In The Act, drop us a note.]
