Cascio Interstate’s DrummerFest 20
Cascio Interstate’s DrummerFest 2008…
An Unforgettable Day of Drumming!
New Berlin, WI (January 5, 2009) – Cascio Interstate Music’s DrummerFest 2008 continued its tradition of world-class talent with Dennis Chambers, Marco Minnemann, Jim Riley and Johnny Rabb!
This year’s eighth annual DrummerFest was held on Saturday, November 15th, and proved once again to be one of the Midwest’s premier drumming showcase events. The all-day extravaganza started at 11:00 a.m. and lasted until 6:00 p.m., with attendance at 1000+ in the course of the day.
The festival started out with Johnny Rabb, who displayed his unbelievable skills using Roland’s electronic drum system. His patented sticking techniques wowed the crowd, executed with the greatest of casual elegance, Johnny’s trademark.
Next up was Jim Riley. Well known as the beat master for the mega-superstar country band Rascal Flatts, Jim also showcased his multi-faceted skills playing everything from delicate jazz to heavy-handed rock, styles he developed at North Texas University.
Third on the bill was drum phenomenon, Marco Minnemann, who dazzled the crowd with a rapid fire display of extreme independence on his unique drum set-up, which features multiple foot pedals, gong bass drum, and stacked cymbal set-ups.
Closing the show was drumming statesman, Dennis Chambers. Many terms have been used to describe Dennis’ playing, “in the pocket,” “lightning speed” and “ultra funky.” All were confirmed in his 75-minute set, ending with an explosive climax that left the audience in awe.
Closing the day was the traditional all-star jam, a 15-minute jam with all the clinicians trading chops and grooves, first at full volume, then changing dynamics to a soft whisper, and ending with a literal BANG. A delighted crowd then queued up for autographs and photos. Sponsors of DrummerFest included Pearl, Sabian, Zildjian, Roland, Ludwig and Gibraltar.
