Meet The 2014 Drummies! Percussion Winners
Mike Portnoy (drum set) and Daniel de los Reyes (percussion) took home top honors in the 2014 Drummies! Awards presented by DRUM! Magazine. But those two are just the tip of the iceberg. Additional hand percussion winners included Poncho Sanchez, Alex Acuna, Rafael Pereira, Walfredo Reyes Sr., Blue Man Group, and Pete Lockett. Playing as the percussionist with Zac Brown Band paid off big-time for Daniel de los Reyes as he won in two categories, Rock/Pop/Hip-Hop, and Percussionist of the Year

Alex Acuña is a double threat on drum set and hand percussion. This year he is a winner in Jazz and Studio categories.
For the second time the hilarious and talented blue men took home top Percussion Ensemble honors.
Pete Lockett walked away with World Percussionist honors for a second time.
Rafael Pereira grew up in Sao Paulo, and today plays with Janella Monae and other artists. He is the new Rising Star Percussionist of the year.
Poncho Sanchez' longevity as a bandleader and conguero helped him pick up a win for Latin Percussionist.
Amazingly, Daniel de los Reyes father also won. Born in Cuba, Walfredo Reyes Senior, along with his famous children, Walfredo Jr. and Daniel has had a highly influential career as drummer, clinician, and author of a recent book. He won Percussion Clinician of the year.
