Hey guys,

Figured this would be a good way to start off on this forum!

Just today I had the idea to create a Facebook page where I’d post videos related to drums - Lessons, entertainment, inspiring videos, etc.
Figured some drummers would like to get some interesting drum videos in their News Feed as opposed to some one you don’t even know updating their status

Over the years I’ve built a massive collection of bookmarks of mainly video lessons, but also drum solo videos, or cool songs where the drums stand out and it would be a pleasure to have the opportunity to share them with you guys.

I invite you all to “like” the page:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Drum-Fountain/506597902699329

All the best!

I’ve had a few nightmare gigs over the years, and will gladly share them with you if this thread gains some traction. Last week I posted the details of a particular memorable one in my blog. Here’s how I remember it:

I knew last Saturday’s gig was doomed from about a mile away. After exiting the freeway, I saw a swarm of flashing lights about six blocks ahead, in what appeared to be close proximity to the club where I was booked. A couple blocks later traffic slowed to a crawl and I realized that the mass of police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks were indeed amassed directly in front of my gig.

Police had set up orange cones on either side of the street and were diverting traffic away from the block in which the club was located. A police officer allowed me to drive past the roadblocks so that I could load in my equipment. Upon arrival I learned that there had been a fatal hit and run accident outside the venue, and the entire block had been designated a crime scene. A pair of shoes still lay in the bloodstained street. It was a grisly tragedy, to be sure.

Despite the fact that there were literally only five people in the club, and little possibility of attracting a bigger crowd, the owner still wanted us to play until 1:00 in the morning. I dutifully set up my drums and played all night to an empty club, while police waved others away.

I just received copies of an album I recorded last year with a friend of mine, and was pleasantly surprised by how good the final mix sounded. But I wasn’t very happy with the fact that I didn’t receive a performance credit in the liner notes. Instead of clearly stating “Drums: Andy Doerschuk” I was just listed among the laundry list of people he thanked, alongside his mom and friends who didn’t play a note on the record.

I was blown away. I’ve probably recorded 20 albums in my life, and have always thought that performance credits were considered a standard courtesy, not just for the performers but also for listeners who want to know who played on the CD.

I recorded the entire album and accepted far less pay than I normally would ask for, since the leader was a personal friend. So tell me, in your opinion, do I have good reasons to be pissed off about this?
