Hi, SBDEE here,
just wondering what style of drums people play on here… I am mainly rock and metal but with my tutor I am learning a lot of jazz and stuff, I also discovered ska, which is a style I had never heard of before, I was asked to play in a school production, it turned out pretty well.
I have just been watching Jeff Pocaro , my tutor gives me a name to look up every week to inspire me!
hope to get some replies!!

hi there,
I have sent my film into hit like a girl. There are some awesome drummers on there, so I really dont expect to win..pah! but I would like to see how many votes I can get, for fun, just for me.
I have put a link below, so you can see how I drum… it was just a sound check at a festival we played in november. It was the week after my 12th birthday.

http://www.hitlikeagirlcontest.com/videos/entry/sbd

If you want to click and vote for me, that would be nice. It also tells you a bit about me too.
Thank you

So I just started recording with some new guys- GREAT people and have incredible talent…. we are in the 50 year age range and do blues/rocks tunes. Problem is- the LEAD- (the BEST guitarist I’ve ever worked with) is a grandpa and wants to be with the grandkids every weekend and forego the LIVE situation. I’m still rocking’ like Neil and ready to go. If Charlie Watts can do it come on!!!!!!! So- ANYBODY else struggling with TRYING to play LIVE but band members think they are too OLD or have too many relatives and desire not to perform? I UNDERSTAND blood is thick- but let’s keep the music ALIVE… I know spending time with the grandkids is SUPER, but how much time do WE have left? Anybody out there to comment??????

Power Outage

I was playing Vdrums at a Christmas concert over the weekend. About 4 songs into it, the power goes out. Apparently the light guy plugged into the same circuit as the sound board. We were on the chorus, and the singers kept going mic-less. When they finished the chorus, the crowd applauded politely.

Within 30 seconds the light guy had the power back on. I laid down a fill & we were right back into the chorus, then the outro. I was surprised how well the band followed me back in.

Needless to say, there wasn’t much of a light show after that, and the volume was kept in check.

When it comes to discovering music I always seem to be two steps (at least) behind. How do you typically find your next favorite song/band/artist?

I’ve seen other forums do this sort of thing so I thought we could use one as well!

This isn’t where you post your favorite song/artist, not everything on your hard drive, just name the song playing right now.

Different Instruments?

Do any of you guys play other instruments? I’ll start by saying I learned to play piano before i started playing drums. I learned to play guitar, and am self-teaching myself to play harmonica! :D I also play a litt e bit of bass but nothing serious.
I love to use Fender guitars and Orange amps. Though I don’t own any (yet.) I usually play Billy Joel when I sit at the piano, or just make up covers for songs by the Beatles, Nirvana, or Smashing Pumpkins. My family’s also a big fan of musical theatre so sometimes you’ll find me jamming to Little Shop Of Horrors, or even Sweeney Todd.

What random hobbies do you guys have?
