What basdrum heads do you guys prefer? I like Evans or Powerstrokes.

I always use Remo Powerstroke 3 batters and Ambassador-weight resonant heads.

I used Remo PS3’s for years, but I recently switched to Aquarian SKII’s

I use Super Kick III bass batter head and side ported (4 3/4” hole) front bass head… Great sound with no external muffling required!

Hi all -

I was a Remo guy for years.  But in the last 3 or 4 years I’ve been using the Aquarian Super Kick II (with a thin Kick Pad) on the batter side, and an Aquarian Regulator with the 4 3/4” hole on the resonant side.  I have six sets and I run this head configuration on all but one of them.

I tune the batter side to just past the wrinkle stage.  I then tune the reso side just a tad past that.  No laundry, felt, foam, wolverines, etc. are required inside the bass drum.  It has a nice boomy thud.  Even the sound guys like it!

I agree… Aquarian Super Kicks sound great whether in a studio or live environment!

I like the Evans EQ3 on the back and the EQ 1 on the front.  Peace and goodwill.
