Rev.D. , I REALLY like your ‘Signature’-A good drummer will sound good on anything. A bad drummer will sound bad on anything. That is 1 of the truest & most concise stamements about drumming that I have heard in 20 years! It’s just so very true. Quick case in point, I had a student 4 yrs ago that bought a really cheap drum kit, new, w/ all of the hardware, & even cheap ‘no name’ cymbals for around $500. The kit didn’t even have a make labeled on it @ all. It sounded like crap & my student was in a panic. I switched the heads (batter & resonants), & applied the ‘Simon Phillips’ methodology of kick drum dampening (roll up 2 bath towels-1 for batter side & 1 for the reso side-& tape them to the heads w/ electrical tape. After those simple alterations, the kit actually sounded like a drum kit. W/ a bad drummer playing it, it still would have sounded like the $500 piece ‘o crud that it was. But when I played it, it really sounded like a good entry-level kit & my student even played out w/ that kit for 2 yrs (he’s since upgraded to a Pearl Vision VLX Maple)! Thanks & be well!
