Hammerax has entered into an agreement with drummer Jay Lane to endorse Hammerax cymbals and percussion.

“We’re really excited to have Jay on board, says Hammerax president John Stannard. His extraordinary style and technique will make a great addition to our team.”

Primus embarked on an extensive tour beginning in 2010. They are currently in the studio working on new material. They are playing the Australian Soundwave Festival which kicks off February 26 in Brisbane and concludes March 7 in Perth.

Some of the projects Lane has recorded and/or performed on include The Uptones, The Freaky Executives, Primus, Alphabet Soup, Charlie Hunter Trio, Bob Weir and RatDog, Sausage, The Band of Brotherz, and Further.

Lane joins a list of prominent Hammerax endorsers such as Marco Giovino (touring with Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin fame) Omar Hakim (Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Madonna) Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson, KTU, Stick Men) Terry Bozzio (Missing Persons, Frank Zappa, Jeff Beck) Walfredo Reyes (Santana, Lindsey Buckingham, Jackson Browne) Will Calhoun (Living Color, Mos Def, Herb Alpert)  Evelyn Glennie (Solo, Bjork) Jim Keltner (Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr) Bashiri Johnson (Michael Jackson, Sting, Whitney Houston) and KJ Sawka (solo, Pendulum).

I must say that I was a bit skeptical when Hammerax jumped onto the scene a few years ago, but I was wrong to be! I personally own some of your products & recommend them to students & fellow peers & drummer friends highly! I own & love the ‘Boomywang’, which I noticed in Jay Lane’s personal setup w/ Primus! I also have the 7” & 9.5” Nice bells. I’ve always been a huge fanatic of bell sounds & playing Sabian for the last 8.5 years, own their Ice Bell, & some of the Radia Bells (from Terry Bozzio) which I absolutley love.
The Nice Bells are, as you advertise, ‘true bells’. Their sound is very pure w/ a sustain that is controlled—certainly a different breed of drumset bells than I’m used to & I love them. Your Boomywang is just plain FUN! I have a lot of fun experimenting w/ it, placing it w/in grooves & fills, & getting all of the different sounds that I can from it. I suggest that anyone who already owns a gong (I have Sabian’s Zodiac Gong) get the Boomywang as a ‘companion’ to it! Hitting them both together gives out a truly unique sound! I’ve set my Zodiac behind to my right & the Boomywang behind on my left (like Carl Palmer sets his gongs up). I like that the Boomywang can be struck w/ sticks, hands, or mallets (which I prefer).
Another Hammerax user is Todd Sucherman, who has the Boomywang in his setup in some scenes on his “Methods & Mechanics II” DVD set!
Thanks for such unique percussion instruments that compliment my drumset so very well!
