so dave, just curious, how come you and andy and Rev D get photos for forums but no one else does? still working on that or we’re just not special enough lol
Grab a chair. Long answer.
Three part answer:
Turning on the avatars for everyone is pretty easy. It’s what happens after they are turned on that we are prepping for.
We want to create a community that is fun and informative. We also want to make sure that it stays at the PG-13’ish level.
Once things get humming it’s going to be very difficult for us to monitor every avatar for appropriateness. But the community at large can be our best eyes and ears to point out when someone has pushed the appropriateness envelope just a little too far. So far you guys and gals have been great and we’re getting really close to a point where we have enough members that have taken a real sense of ownership in helping each other out where we know that things are in good hands. In short, it’s getting really tough to make an argument against opening up avatars.
A few members such as Rev.D. arrived to the party early and have been of great help to us. They have read and commented on the website posts. Posted to and responded to forum topics. Spread the word about the community. All in all they have been great help to the DRUM! community. We will be upping the ante in the type of rewards, access and goodies that we’ll be offering to those who go the extra step for community but at the time offering the ability to post an avatar early was a small token of our thanks. If you feel that you or someone else deserves an “atta boy” let us know. Don’t be shy. It really helps us out.
We’re just cool…. not buying that? Okay just go with reasons #1 and #2
