There are many bands that I would love to sit in with for a show or two.  They range from George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic, the Stampeders, AC/DC, to Twisted Sister and Stryper.  The list spans the gamete of musical styles. I will be thinking about this question all weekend! gulp

o my…I’d kill for a chance to sit in for Gavin Harrison. trying to play the same stuff he does in Porcupine Tree is a drummers’ 9x9 Rubix cube! (look them up. crazy stuff) whats crazy is they are easy to play along to but its insane trying to copy them. You can throw in all kinds of other stuff and it sounds great but if you try to copy Gavin to the letter, prepare to be frustrated.

as for older bands the who would be my all time first but i like zepplin to playin moby dick would be one of the most fun things to do on stage. as for newer bands im in to STS9, zack velmer kills it and i think it would be a blast to be up there.

Glad to see Stryper mentioned.  I’d love to play with them.

Hmmm…. For me it would either have to be Rush or Tool.

Actually on second thought I’m gonna say The Mars Volta.

Or all three tongue wink

Stampeders! Wow, that’s a blast from the past. How about the Guess Who! Gary has some nice chops.

If it is a true “wish list” I’d say Zeppelin.  If I had to keep it grounded in some sort of reality I’d say the Screaming Headless Torsos!!!

No question for me. It would be U2. The way Larry incorparates the drumming into songs like With or Without You is just plain awesome. That song is generaly thought as a slower melodic tune but the live versions when he’s taking it out on the floor tom is just great. It is farly simple in the begining, but picks up soon. The one song I would literally (not really) kill to play is I Threw a Brick Through a Window. Theres a solo in the begining and then it is very basic hi-hat, snare, and base. Then at the end it is a small outro solo. Check out the vidio to see what I mean.

Both vids are live.
