Hello, just wanted to share a prototype stave mahogany drums we made for and with drumer Enos Kugler.
There are wooden lugs attachet to the shell with no screws, so the “steel frequencies” are reduced to minimum. Nothing goes trugh the shell itself so what you get is a pure wood sound.
Shell thicknes is 7mm with reinforcement ring 3mm cut in to the shell.
Bearing edges are double 45 on toms and double roundover on bass.
Recorded with: two of the cheapest tube large diagram mics on the market for overheads/room and beta 52 in front of the kick.
No audio processing!
