Add Brightness With Gretsch Full Range Side Snares

By Andy Doerschuk Published February 7, 2011

Put some pop in your pocket with the new Full Range Ash Side Snares from Gretsch. An inherently dense species, ash is famous for accentuating high pitches and cutting tones, which Gretsch boosts by bending 10-ply, 8mm boards into junior sizes – 10” x 6” and 12” x 6”. Since the design is front-loaded to sing with a bright timbre, the drums’ bearing edges are cut at a lower-profile 30-degrees, to add a tad of warmth. Both Full Range snares are fitted with 2.3mm triple flanged hoops, adjustable Gretsch throw off, and 20 strand steel snare wires, and are finished in a stealthy deep transparent satin black with black hardware. The combo of 12.7mm Gretsch bracket with GTS suspension system allows you to easily squeeze one of these babies into spaces normally reversed for stick holders and such. Suggested retail prices are $230 for the 10” and $245 for the 12”.
