Alternate Mode Is In The Alt Zone

Alt Zone

The brainy e-drum gnomes at Alternate Mode are at it again. The company has announced the Kat altZone single FSR (force-sensing resistor) trigger that mounts on a drumhead or any flat surface. This is the same technology used in the inHead that is designed by Kat and sold by Aquarian. The advantage with force-sensing resistor technology is that there is zero crosstalk interaction and a superior dynamic range over other pickups. You can mount several altZones to a single drumhead with no false triggering. Measuring just a few inches across the altZone is large enough to make it playable with drumsticks, yet small enough to not completely dampen the tone of an acoustic drum. You could also make a virtual drum of any surface by mounting altZones to it.

Note: The altZone requires use of a Kat Drum Intelligent Trigger Interface (DITI) or InBox (pictured) to provide power to the FSR. For more information contact Alternate Mode.
