’twas the day before NAMM 2011, and all through the house, Andy Doerschuk was scurrying with a measly Flip camera to get the scoop on new drum gear for 2011 most people won’t glimpse until tomorrow morning at 10:01. In this clip we happen upon The Brady Drum Company booth where we ran into our ancient friend, the dear Chris Brady, an eccentric Australian roughhouse who personally ventures out into the outback to hack his own wood from exotic trees. Despite the protests of his daughter, the lovely Kelly Brady, we are showing you a prototype of a customized Brady creation that combines the strength of a thick shell with the resonance of a thin shell by carving out vast slabs of real estate on the wood’s surface, taking it down to 1/12th of an inch at its thinnest margin. Check it out. Chris Brady is a brilliant craftsman.
