C&C Builds Drum Kit For Monsters
C&C Unveils Monsters Of Folk Tour Kit
C&C Drum Company announced that they have built a special drum kit for the Monsters of Folk tour, this fall's hip ticket featuring the supergroup of Conor Oberst, Jim James, M. Ward, and Mike Mogis playing new material and hits from their Bright Eyes, My Morning Jacket and M.Ward catalog.
According to Jake Cardwell of C&C, the company has long wanted to build a throwback kit inspired by Levon Helm, and this was the right opportunity. "When thinking of finishes for the tour kit, we received a few notes of what Will Johnson (the tour drummer who is also songwriter for Centro-Matic and South San Gabriel) was thinking, finish and vibe-wise. Will stated that he was heavily influenced by both Chris Mars and Levon Helm, yet he didn't know what finish was on the drums they used or if they even matched. It seemed like the perfect time to build the Levon-inspired kit we'd always wanted. From the first talks of putting together a kit for the tour, the idea was to build some great sounding drums, use them for the shows and then auction the kit off for charity. We gladly jumped on board and are honored to be a part of the whole situation. We've been long time fans of Will Johnson, and couldn't be happier to have him playing this special kit."
You should definitely try to catch one of the shows as the band is donating some of the proceeds to local charities at each stop. And, after the tour is over there will be a chance to own an amazing kit. The drums are 14" x 22" kick with an 8-ply shell and 10-ply maple reinforcement rings. The 8" x 13" rack tom is a 4-ply mahogany/poplar/mahogany shell with 8-ply maple reinforcement rings and the 16" x 16" floor tom features 6-ply maple shells and 8-ply maple reinforcement hoops. All the drums are crafted with C&C rounded vintage-style bearing edges.
See you at the shows!
