Gretsch Drums At NAMM 2012
There was no shortage of new drums and line extensions at Gretsch’s bustling NAMM 2012 booth. Perhaps the biggest new trend was the company’s drive toward value-priced entry-level kits, with the introduction of the new Renegade and Energy poplar shell series. We also checked out new finishes for the company’s Brooklyn and Renown 57 series, as well as a couple new snare drums, including the beautiful brushed brass model, with its antique brass finish. Perhaps the most intriguing display was a prototype concept drum kit that product rep John Palmer called Retro-Luxe, which plays right into the unique direction toward 3-D two-tone finishes that Gretsch introduced with the Renown 57 series.
