iW Drums, maker of custom LED kits for drum sets, has rebranded itself to DrumLite. The move came when iW Drums, which launched out of the owners’ college dorm room in 2011, started getting wide recognition from peers as DrumLite. "Before we even had a website, we started a Facebook page for our company that we had named DrumLite - ever since then a lot of people have tended to recognize us by that name instead of iW Drums," mentioned lightsmith Joey Nesbitt.
The company has left the dorm room behind and now has new digs in a manufacturing and office complex in Minneapolis. In addition, DrumLite also has launched a new self-service web site with new images, more videos, and a custom quotetool. "This new site is really going to blow our old one out of the water" says co-founder Jeff Sevaldson, "it will be super user friendly and a lot cleaner."
The Drumlite products have been used by artists such as Def Leppard, Delta Rae, Team Cybergeist, Street Drum Corps, SAGA, and numerous custom shops. According to Sevaldson, next up are products for vintage drums and some triggered lights. "We are pretty stoked about our growth as well as the direction that we are heading," he says.
