Joyful Noise Drum Company At NAMM 2012

Joyful Noise Drum Company sets itself apart from many custom shops by specializing in high-end metal-shell snare drums, many featuring natural oil finishes that endow each drum with a unique rough-hewn patina. This year the company showed off some new copper, bronze, and aluminum snare drums fitted with nickel-plated hardware and the company’s ornate throw-off. Commanding the front of the booth was a beautiful drum set made of flame birch salvaged from the Great Lakes. We were surprised to learn that there is still plenty of wood at the bottom of the lakes waiting to be reclaimed. Apparently that submerged timber is truly timeless after all.
