Geoff Barrios did not have to agonize about going into the drum business. He decided it was what he wanted to do when he built his first drum in high school. Since opening his doors ten years ago, Barrios has built Truth into a well-known custom drum studio, with customers, and a name, that span the globe. Making custom drums is basically the only job he has ever known.
Truth made its reputation on highly customized one-off designs. As Barrios says. “We can build it all, from chambered hybrid snares, hybrid kits, custom graphic drums, sandblasted logos on acrylic, custom snare vents, wraps, stains – you got an idea we can build it.”
Though lots of people want a Truth kit, not every kid has the scratch to land one. To meet that challenge, this year Truth is introducing the Matt Greiner Signature series kit. The set is an exact replica of one that Greiner plays on the road with August Burns Red. It includes 10" x 8", 12" x 9", and 16" x 14" toms, plus a 22" x 18" kick drum and mounting hardware (snare not included). It’s constructed of 7-ply maple and is fitted with Truth heads, tube lugs, chrome hardware, three floor tom legs, two L-rod-style Rims mounts for mounted toms and two L-rod attachment brackets for your cymbal stands. For the first 20 customers Truth is including a 14" x 5" chrome-over-brass snare (though that offer may be gone by the time you read this).
The Greiner kit runs $1,550. A full-on Truth custom set will cost you $4,000 depending on options.
