The new Meinl Turbo Cajon is just any ol’ slap-box, but a slickly innovative take on one of Latin music’s most essential percussion instruments.
The upper corners of the cajon have deeply cut channels with castanet-like striking surfaces. This produces a reinforced slap effect that can be controlled with hand pressure.
With a frontplate and resonating body constructed of red oak with a matte finish, the turbo cajon is a handsome addition to any setup. $380
