Who would have ever envisioned that the skate-punk culture born in Southern California would wind its way across the continent and Atlantic ocean to find root in the highlands of Scotland? And yet here is living proof provided by Nathan Wind, a drummer from Aberdeen who sent us some pics of his new Orange County Drum & Percussion kit. It’s a beaut all right, finished in a Blue Glass Sparkle wrap and offset with black power-coated hardware, which offers that perfect marriage between 4-piece traditionalism and punk rock minimalism. “I’ve got a 22" x 18", 12" x 9" and 16" x 14", plus my little Orange County 14" x 4" picollo snare drum,” Nathan wrote. “I topped it all off with Zildjian Cymbals and a Pork Pie throne. I love my kit!” Hey Nathan, we don’t blame you! The combo of OCDP and Zildjians fits perfectly into his punk outfit, Short Notice, and you can hear the kit’s open, punchy tones by visiting the band’s myspace page.
