PASIC Video: Istanbul Mehmet’s New Hat Trick

By Andy Doerschuk Published November 16, 2010

We just returned from the 2010 Percussive Arts Society Convention, which took place on November 11—13 in Indianapolis, Indiana. We saw plenty of cool gear there, including a little gem at the Istanbul Mehmet booth, where product specialist Hakan A├žikalin gave us a tour of the Turkish cymbal smith’s newest innovation – the Hat Trick. It’s the first time we’ve ever seen a set of hi-hats that includes three cymbals, which can be paired in any number of ways to create a vast selection of hi-hat textures and tonalities. Here’s the demo we saw when we visited Istanbul Mehmet’s PASIC booth.
