Shape Shifter: Ludwig’s Epic Modular

Chameleon Kit

By Andrew Lentz Published September 28, 2009

The Epic Modular drum set from Ludwig takes flexibility to a whole new level.

Combine the two 20” x 8” kicks together for a single massive boom or play them separately as a double bass set — perfect for twin-kickers who wrestle with limited stage space.

Educators will appreciate the way the Epic Modular breaks down into two separate kits, one for the pupil, one for the interactive instructor — it’s like two kits for the price of one.

Arrange the included 10” x 7” and 12” x 7” rack toms and 14” x 12” and 16 x 13 floors to create multiple set-ups. Includes a 13” x 6” snare drum. Rugged chrome hardware, tasteful lugs, and off shell-mounting add to the Epic Modular’s list of sound-enhancing qualities and thoughtful design.

The classy looking 6-ply all birch shells have a wet, powerful sound ideal for high-volume situations while the shallow shell depths have a classy retro look. Comes in Blue Fade (pictured) or Tobacco Fade.
