The Entertainer

By Andrew Lentz Published August 19, 2009

Taye Drums takes center stage with the reintroduction of its popular Spolight line of drums.

Sporting 7mm, 8-ply poplar shells, the Spotlight makes a warm, wonderful tone in a variety of applications whether you’re just starting out or want to add a second kit without breaking the bank.

The Jazzy SLR518J with 10" x 8.5" and 12" x 9" rack toms, 14" x 13" floor tom, 13" x 5" snare and a 18" x 14" kick drum will put you in good stead with all the hep cats. The SLR20J sports the same rack and floor toms but with a beefier 20" x 14" kick and wompier 14" x 5.5" snare. Or maybe you want to rock out on the classic SLR522C with its 12" x 9" and 13" x 10" rack toms, 16" x 16" floor, 22" x 14" kick and a 14" x 5.5" snare.

With its proprietary lugs and hoops, precision engineering and painstaking attention to detail these high-quality Japanese kits always deliver that crisp, money sound. All setups include crash cymbal/hats with stands, snare stand, bass drum pedal, and throne. Jazz configuration, $999; classic, $1,049.
