Travis Barker’s “Can The Drummer Get Some”

DRUM!’s trusty lesson demonstrator, Nate Brown, takes a stab at “Can The Drummer Get Some,” from Travis Barker’s upcoming debut solo release Give The Drummer Some. This track has lots of layers of production on top of Barker’s funky beat – there’s an electronic 808-ish bass drum playing a two-bar pattern of 1e ah (3) ah (4) & 1 ah (3) ah (4) & that creates a busier sounding pattern than Barker is actually playing. To realy compare the relationship between the two parts pick up the January 2011 issue of DRUM! Magazine, which features the notation for both the live and programmed beats.
