Brazilian Afrobeat

This is another groove we’ve created that is a fusion of different influences. The kit part (Ex. 1) is based off the Afro-Brazilian pattern known as Partido Alto and is mixed with a syncopated Afrobeat feel. The conga pattern (Ex. 2) also stems from a Partido Alto groove, and it too incorporates elements of afrobeat as well as funk. The triangle and shaker patterns (Exs. 3 & 4) are typical samba parts (a pandero can be added as a soloist). This is a great groove for a vocal breakdown!
