How To Play “My Heart Is Broken” By Evanescence

Will Hunt

On “My Heart Is Broken,” Will Hunt plays a heavy yet funky groove with a light snare note on the e of 3 that sets up his displaced snare note on the & of 4. At the end of the third line he offers a short but effective fill every rock drummer should know. The next line reveals his unusual pre-chorus groove. For this one he moves his last snare note to the ah of 3, and later repeats the previously mentioned fill, but this time adds a couple of toms to it. See the November 2011 issue of DRUM! Magazine for the sheet music for this musical excerpt. You can order a copy by going here.
