Redistributing Rudiments

This month we’re going to begin a series of lessons that involve taking several of the Standard 26 American Drum Rudiments and applying them to the kick, hi-hat, and snare drum, thereby transforming them into “drum set” rudiments. These particular exercises take the sticking and rhythms for basic snare drum single strokes, double strokes, and paradiddles, and redistribute them between the hands and feet. Each rudiment should be worked out between kick, snare, and hi-hat, and ultimately be applied to the entire kit. Also, if you’re playing double kick you can replace the hi-hat parts with your second kick drum.
