Steve Gadd: Groove Poetry In Motion
By Kerim Mac Published March 14, 2014
Steve Gadd is the master of groove. Put him on any bandstand and the room levitates. In honor of our April groove issue, we asked the video wizards at Hudson Music to recommend some Gadd vids. What follows are some clips from the Mission From Gadd clinic tour of a few years ago. These three videos contain a lot of knowledge, and even if you've caught him live, you might want to take another look. They include Steve's whistling, shuffling intro to "Bye Bye Blackbird"; his drum fills from Steely Dan's "Aja"; and rhythms from Paul Simon's hit "Late In The Evening."
