We were in for a surprise when we dropped by Rocket Shells’ 2012 NAMM booth. After several years spent selling OEM carbon fiber shells to custom drum makers, the company this year reintroduced its Carbon Classic snare drums, spurred on by the recent endorsement of Jose Pasillas, who is now using a 14" x 7" model while on the road with Incubus. But there’s more to it than that. Last year Rocket Shells previewed its new Ngage cam throw-off, and this year showed us the company’s new cast carbon fiber lug. Essentially, all the pieces fell into place to revive Rocket Shells Carbon Classic drums. It’s good to see it come back.
