Allentown Day Of Percussion April 10

Allentown Day Of Percussion April 10

Residents of Allentown, Pennsylvania should be forewarned — don’t freak out if your windows occasionally rattle on Saturday, April 10. Instead of being caused by an earthquake, those vibrations will emanate from the Day Of Drumming, featuring award-winning percussionist Jim Donovan at Metropolitan Community Church of the Lehigh Valley (930 N. Fourth St., first floor).

Donovan — one of the founding members of the multi-platinum selling band Rusted Root — will conduct two interactive hand drumming workshops in which he’ll teach rhythms from Africa, the Americas, and Caribbean. Don’t fret if you don’t have an axe — he’ll provide a large selection of authentic African drums for participants to use during the workshop. You will provide your hands and ears.

Pre-registration fee is $35 for single workshop or $65 for full day. Registration on day of event is $45 for single workshop or $80 for the full day. All ticket sales are final. Go here for more information.
