Word is out that veteran punk/pop drummer Atom Willard has parted ways with Angels & Airwaves, the band Tom DeLonge founded in the mid-2000s when Blink-182 went on long-term hiatus. Willard has been with Angels & Airwaves since its inception, and will appear on the band’s upcoming album L )VE Part Two.
Details remain pretty sketchy, although both Willsard and the band have released requisite announcements. “It was an honor and we wish him all the best in his ongoing journey,” said the band, while Willard stated, “It’s been a great six years and I feel privileged to have worked with these musicians I call my friends. While I will miss them, it is an amicable split and I look forward to this next chapter in my life. I truly wish the guys much success in the future.”
We suspect that with a track record that includes The Offspring, Rocket From the Crypt, and The Special Goodness, Willard will have no trouble landing on his feet.
