Bongo Legend Jack Costanzo Gives Lecture In Philadelphia

Drummers and percussionists in Philadelphia have a unique opportunity to learn the story and insights of the legendary bongo player Jack Costanzo, when he appears on Wednesday, November 17 as part of the ongoing Inside Latin Jazz series. Moderated by flute soloist and professor at Whittier College, Danilo Lozano, Costanzo (a.k.a. Mr. Bongo) will reminisce about a career that began when he traveled to Havana in the late ’40s to study Afro-Cuban percussion, and culminated in a celebrated career that included work with Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee, Stan Kenton, Judy Garland, Harry James, Xavier Cugat, and many others.
