Apparently, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Chickenfoot just haven't kept Chad Smith as busy as he wants to be, because on September 15 Warrior Records will release Meet The Meatbats, the debut album by Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats. The label describes the all-instrumental album as "a plethora of influences fusing such diverse styles as classic rock, old school funk, punk, and '70s R&B." What? No polka tunes?

The ten songs on Meet The Meatbats were written in only a few days at Smith's Malibu pool house (a.k.a. The Tiki Room) and also feature Jeff Kollman on guitar, Ed Roth on keyboards, and Kevin Chown on bass.
