Hit Like A Girl Contest Winner To Play 2014 Percussive Arts Society Conference: Week 3 Finalists Announced

The 18+ winner of the 2014 Hit Like A Girl Contest will be invited to play at the PASIC (Percussive Arts Society International Convention) Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. The event, to be held November 19-22, 2014, is the world’s largest annual percussion conference, featuring college and high school drumline competitions, an academic conference, convention exhibits from major drum companies, and clinics and lessons with big-name drummers from all styles of music. David Levine, the contest co-founder says “We are extremely pleased to be working with the world’s premier percussion organization to promote and support female drummers. Week 3 Finalists Chosen By Drummer Jess Bowen

Jessica Bowen, drummer for power pop stalwarts The Summer Set, and Mindy Abovitz, the publisher of Tom Tom Magazine, were the celebrity judges for Week 3 of the Hit Like A Girl 2014 contest. They chose four winners, two in the 18+ and two in the Under 18 category. The winners receive GoPro cameras and advance to the finals next month. They are:

Under 18

Miss Emily Christine whose video is a cover of the Foo Fighters “The Pretenders."

Elise “Goober 99” (United States) a fourteen-year old drummer who performs Rush’s “YYZ.”

Shiri Burstein (at left, from Israel) who began playing drums at age four and today is studying at the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music.

Hannah Longhagel (Austria) a 23-year old who has been playing drums 12 years.
