Longtime Ill Niño drummer Dave Chavarri has had to bow out of four shows on the New Jersey Latin metal band’s European tour due to an unspecified family emergency. Fortunately, Chavarri’s drum tech – Matt Alston, who also plays with Sanctorum and knows Ill Niño’s set front to back – will step in during the drummer’s brief absence.
“I’m very sad that I will not attend the upcoming four Ill Niño Euro shows,” Chavarri wrote in a statement.” These are the only four shows I have ever missed since the beginning of Ill Niño. This is all very unexpected, but I need to be there for my family, and hope everyone understands. Our dear friend Matt will be filling in for these shows. He was my first choice and I know he will kick ass! Matt has been my drum tech for close to four years, so who better than him to fill in?! Thanks, Matt, thanks to my bros in Ill Niño, and thanks to all Ill Niño fans for understanding.”
