Dave Grohl Lands HBO Series
Dave Grohl will be hosting a documentary series in which the former Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters front man will visit and play at some of the world's most famous recording studios. Those studios include Electrical Audio in Chicago, Inner Ear Studios in Washington, D.C., and Rancho De La Luna in California, where Queens of the Stone Age and Arctic Monkeys frequently play.
Grohl will also interview well-known musicians who have recorded at those studios. So far, confirmed guests include KISS front man Paul Stanley, Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh, Heart’s Nancy Wilson and Fugazi’s Ian MacKaye.
The show will be similar to Sound City, a documentary Grohl directed and hosted in 2013 in which he explored the history and closing of Sound City Studios, the Los Angeles recording studio where in 1991 Grohl, Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and producer Butch Vig recorded Nirvana’s landmark album Nevermind, including the album's opening track “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”
The show is expected to air as part of HBO's winter lineup.
