You can add yet another hat to Dave Grohl’s growing collection. Besides being a drummer, guitarist, singer, songwriter, and ... well, we could go on ... Grohl will now add the title of film director to his lengthy job description.
It all started last year after Grohl purchased the Neve 8028 recording console from L.A.’s Sound City Studios. While thinking of all the classic albums that had been recorded on the console, Grohl came up with the brilliant idea of producing a documentary about the legendary studio where such artists as Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Guns ’N Roses, Fear, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails, and Metallica have recorded over the past 40 years.
Roswell Films, a division of the Roswell Records label that releases Foo Fighters music, has signed on to distribute Sound City. We’ll keep you up to date as more information comes in.
