By Andy Doerschuk Published July 31, 2009

Good vibes are on their way to Huntsville, Alabama, where renowned drum circle facilitator John Scalici brings his message of "Unity Through Rhythm" this Saturday, August 1.

Scalici will present two workshops, starting at 11:00 a.m. with "Rhythm Empowerment," a 45-minute session in which the drummer will work one-on-one with young adults (14 and older) with special needs, both physical and emotional. This class is limited to 15 students. Admission is $15 per person.

Then at 1:00, he will host "Adult Rhythmic Development," a four-hour workshop where students will learn basic rhythmic development, hand drumming skills, the history and West African influences of the medium, and more. Learned skills will be fully utilized in the second half of the workshop, including a jam session at the close. Admission is $30 per person.
