Heat Strokes winners Tyler Ommen (left) and Paul Thompson
The finals of the 15th Annual Heat Strokes Drum Contest were held once again McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, Illinois.Despite tornadoes and a near-power blackout a capacity crowd filled the 250-seat conference center.
There were two classes for this year's contest, A and B. Your level was determined by your preliminary speed score and talent, not your age. For only the second time in fifteen years there were repeat winners. Eighteen-year old Tyler Ommen won in Class A and twenty-seven year old Paul Thopmson pulled off a win in Class B.
