Former Twisted Sister drummer Joe Markowski (a.k.a. Fast Joey Brighton) died on April 14, only four days after being diagnosed with malignant pancreatic cancer. He was 57. Markowski played with the band for a brief period from April 1981 to March 1982, and was replaced by AJ Pero shortly before the band recorded its debut album, Under The Blade. Markowski was well known throughout the New York music scene as a drum teacher, and counted Black Sabbath’s Bobby Rondinelli and fellow Twisted Sister alumnus Joe Franco as former students.
