Jay Weinberg Loses Madball Gig In Bitter Split

Wiretap reported just two months ago that Max Weinberg’s son Jay Weinberg had won the gig with New York hardcore outfit Madball. The younger Weinberg has shown incredible potential — a young hotshot with a great pedigree, who even filled in for his dad with Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band in 2009. And yet today Madball front man Freddy Cricien released the following statement:

“I’m letting Jay go ... because I just feel he doesn’t represent this band well on a character level. It would go against my own code of ethics to keep him around. (I’m) not saying he’s a bad drummer .... but the reality is he has a lot to learn about paying dues, and about life in general ... I’m not sure that he’ll ever be built for this particular lifestyle. I wish him the best of luck.”
