L.A. Funk Drummer Jovan “J-1” Coleman Dies In Sweden
The Los Angeles neo-funk scene lost a pivotal figure last Sunday when Jovan “J-1” Coleman passed away at the age of 32 while visiting Sweden. The cause of his death is still unknown. Coleman moved to L.A. four years ago, where he quickly established himself as both a drummer and producer. He first began working with Shafiq Husayn’s En’AFreeKa Ensemble and Animal Kingdom, but became best known as the drummer with Master Blazter. Earlier this year he released the EP The Yellow.
