Lars Ulrich Settles Lawsuit With Former Employee
There’s a lot going on in the Metallica camp – the new Lulu album with Lou Reed and murmurs about an anticipated Metallica album in 2012. Lars Ulrich clearly has a lot on his plate, which might partially explain why the drummer recently chose to settle a lawsuit originally filed last February in Marin Superior Court by his former personal assistant Steven Wiig (who plays drums in the band Papa Wheelie with former Metallica bassist Jason Newstead).
Wiig, who had worked for Ulrich from 2001—2009, claimed that the drummer owed unspecified damages for “unpaid overtime,” filing suit for federal labor violations, breach of oral contract, and continuing wages. Wilg claimed to have worked 70 hours a week while Ulrich was at home in Suasalito, California, and 80 hours a week while Metallica was on tour.
