Mike Portnoy has been nothing but productive since cutting ties with Dream Theater in 2010, rapidly joining and forming one supergroup after another. Among them was Adrenaline Mob, which also featured members of Disturbed and Symphony X.
But today the prog metal drummer announced that he will quit Adrenaline Mob following this month’s short tour of Latin America supporting Halestorm.
“Unfortunately, I have scheduling conflicts that prevent me from being able to fully commit to the band’s future activities at the moment,” he wrote in a statement. “As I cannot be in two places at the same time, I don’t want to hold them back and have to wait for my schedule to re-open up to resume activity.”
Portnoy’s likeliest conflict might involve the upcoming July debut release by The Winery Dogs, another supergroup that includes bassist Billy Sheehan and guitarist Richie Kotzen.
