A Festival Only Drummers Could Love

By Andy Doerschuk Published July 22, 2009

If two days of nonstop riffing sounds like your vision of nirvana, you might want to trek to the great white north in October for the 2009 Montreal Drum Fest. Over the past 16 years, this annual chops marathon has grown into North America's premier drum clinician showcase. And with this week's announcement of the addition of funk and fusion master Dennis Chambers, the promoters have put the final touch on this year's program, which was already a doozy to begin with.

Presented on October 24–25, 2009 the show will also feature Flo Mournier, Emmanuelle Caplette, Jeff Hamilton, John Roberts, Karl Perazzo, Raul Rekow, Steve Smith, Pete Lockett, John "JR" Robinson, Ndugu Chancler, Paul Leim, Moe Carlson, Damien Schmitt, Daniel de los Reyes, Luisito Quintero, Cindy Blackman, and The Wackerman Brothers, as well as showcases by up-and-coming drummers.
