Original E Street Drummer Sits In With Springsteen

The crowd at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium got a treat last night when the original E Street Band drummer Vini “Mad Dog” Lopez sat in during the first night of Bruce Springsteen’s three-night .

The unexpected moment came when Max Weinberg walked away from his drum set during the opening of the song while The Boss asked the crowd “What happened to the drummer? He got sick. We need an M.D.,” at which point Lopex jumped onto the drum throne to play “E Street Shuffle,” which he recorded with the band in 1973.
