Paul Bostaph Quits Testament

We can only figure that Paul Bostaph gets bored easily.

After bowing out of the recording sessions for the upcoming Testament album, The Dark Roots, earlier this year due to “unnamed injuries” (prompting Gene Hoglan and Chris Adler to sit in), today the Bay Area thrash band has announced that Bostaph has left the band to play with BlackGates, an Alameda, California-based metal outfit that appears to be working on demos at the moment, according to the band’s MySpace page.

Testament vocalist Chuck Billy released the following statement: “I, Eric, Alex, and Greg want to congratulate our brother, forever, Paul Bostaph on his new band, BlackGates. And while ’The Hands of Mayhem’ will be sorely missed from our band, we wish him the ultimate success in everything that he does in his future.”

Testament’s press release states that the band “is now actively seeking the heaviest drummer on the planet.”

Any takers?
