Pearl Promotes Okamoto To Director Of R&D
A lot of folks around the San Francisco area still think of Gene Okamoto as the guy who used to work at Drum World, but in fact he has been a mainstay at Pearl Corporation since 1992, where he has worked as a product manager. During that time Okamoto has been instrumental in the design and implementation of such notable products as the H-2000 hi-hat, Eliminator bass drum pedal, ICON Rack, I.S.S. mounting system, and Eliminator Demon Drive bass drum pedal. That’s a pretty hefty legacy.
Those of us who remember him from the old days couldn’t be more proud of the fact that Pearl had the wisdom to kick Gene upstairs with his recent promotion to Director of Research And Development, where he will be involved in testing, evaluating, and documenting product quality.
“I’m honored to be a member of the Pearl Team and to be entrusted with contributing to the direction and development of the products that we offer,” Okamoto says. “It’s a team effort and I thank everyone at Pearl and especially our excellent R&D Team for making me look good.”
Oh yeah, he’s humble, too.
